The Arab League (Arabic: الجامعة العربية), formally the League of Arab States (Arabic: جامعة الدول العربية), is a regional organization of Arab states in and around North Africa. It was formed in Cairo on 22 March 1945 with six members: Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan (renamed Jordan in 1949), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Currently, the League has 22 members.
阿拉伯聯盟(阿拉伯文:الجامعة العربية),正式名稱為阿拉伯國家聯盟(阿拉伯文:جامعة الدول العربية)是阿拉伯國家組成的區域性國際政治組織,會員國橫跨北非、東北非和阿拉伯半島。它於1945年3月22日在開羅設立總部,當時共6個創始會員國:埃及,伊拉克,外約旦(1949年更名為約旦),黎巴嫩,沙烏地阿拉伯和敘利亞。同年5月5日葉門也加入該聯盟成為第7個創始會員國。目前該聯盟會員國共22個。
The League’s main goal is to “draw closer the relations between member States and coordinate collaboration between them, to safeguard their independence and sovereignty, and to consider in a general way the affairs and interests of the Arab countries”.
